what water-free body care actually does differently

there’s butter in our body oil. here’s why that matters, what we leave out, and the different ways i use the finished formula on my own skin.

there’s butter in our body oil.

avocado and mango butters, to be exact.

we blend them with sesame and olive oils to make our body oil, a daily, neck-to-toe moisturizer without added water. that detail matters, because it tells you right away this is not just plain oil in a bottle.

when i say water-free body care, i don’t mean a trendy label. i mean a formula built differently on purpose.

what does water-free body care mean?

water-free body care is made without added water in the formula.

that does not mean every water-free product feels the same. the ingredient balance still matters. a body butter and a body oil can both be water-free and still look, feel, and behave differently.

our body oil is lighter and easier to spread over larger areas. our body butter article explains why the butter in the jar feels firmer, richer, and more concentrated.

for me, the point is not just that there is no water in the bottle. the point is what is there instead.

why there’s butter in our body oil

i wanted the richness of butters in something i could smooth over my skin more easily every day.

that’s why our body oil is blended with nourishing butters, not just plant oils alone. i love the softness and nourishment that gives the finished formula.

it also changes the feel. on my skin, it goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly without that sticky, oily feeling people often expect when they hear “body oil.”

if you are trying to use fewer unnecessary extras in the products you put on your body, this also matters. you can read our ingredient transparency page and see exactly what is in the formula and what we leave out.

how i use body oil on wet skin, towel-dried skin, or dry skin

you do not have to use body oil one exact way for it to “count.”

my favorite suggestion is to use it right after you turn off the shower, while your skin is still wet. that makes it easy to spread, and it turns body care into something that is already built into the day.

you can also use it after towel drying. if that feels better to you, do that.

and yes, you can absolutely use it on dry skin too. i find the application feels a little heavier that way, and sometimes that is exactly what i want.

some days i want the lighter feel of using it on wet skin. some days i want the richer feel of using it on dry skin. both are beautiful uses of the same product.

and sometimes i use a body butter topper

sometimes i need more.

sometimes i use the oil and then add body butter on top where i want richer, more focused care. that is not “too much.” it is just another way to respond to what your skin is asking for that day.

make it easy enough to keep doing

the reason i like keeping body oil in the shower is not because that is the only right way to use it.

it is because the easier care is to reach for, the more naturally it becomes part of your life.

when care fits into your routine,
consistency starts to feel effortless.

that might be on wet skin, after towel drying, or on dry skin before bed. what matters is finding the version you will actually keep using.
